Showtime is having a big night with three premieres but perhaps the most anticipated one is the return of "Californication." Last season ended on a sour note for David Duchovny's character, Hank Moody. His on-and-off relationship suffered when Moody revealed to ex Karen (Natasha McElhone) that he had an affair with a girl who was underage at the time. Then Moody was arrested for assault.

Now Duchovny tells TVGuide.com he's glad the truth came out about his character's past. "We've been using that event as a motor for behavior and plot since the beginning," Duchovny told the site. "And I guess that now that is no longer a secret, it is no longer a motor. In a way we're free of it, which will be interesting for the next year, and we'll have to come up with new stuff."

His character also has to deal with a tense relationship with his teenage daughter, Becca, played by Madeleine Martin. "Becca is growing up to the point where she's going to judge him as a person and not just as a father and decide that for her own well-being she's got to create some distance," the actor said.

The show is set to have a star-studded premiere with guest stars Rob Lowe, "Entourage" actress Carla Gugino, rocker Lenny Kravitz's daughter Zoe Kravitz, and "Seven Pounds" actor Michael Ealy.

The network which airs "Californication" is also having two other big premieres tonight with familiar faces. "Friends" star Matt LeBlanc returns to the small screen with his new show "Episodes," which follows a married comedy team who go to Hollywood to remake their successful British comedy series for an American audience. Matt LeBlanc will play a version of himself.

Meanwhile, Emmy Rossum will return to acting with the upcoming Showtime series, "Shameless," in which she plays the oldest daughter of a narcissistic alcoholic single dad, portrayed by William H. Macy.
