LOS ANGELES -- New Year's revelers who revel too much have several options to taking a potentially deadly chance of driving while intoxicated.
The Auto Club is offering free tows on New Year's Eve to early New Year's Day to keep intoxicated drivers off the streets.
Callers simply dial 800-400-4 AAA and tell the operator, "I need a Tipsy Tow." The tow truck will take the driver's car to a residence within seven miles. The Tipsy Tow program will be available starting 6 p.m. today until 6 a.m. New Year's Day in all of the 13 counties the Auto Club serves.
Also, the Metropolitan Transit Authority is offering free rides on Metro buses and trains on New Year's Eve so people won't drink and drive.
No fare will be charged starting 9 p.m. New Year's Eve through 2 a.m. New Year's day.
