The Green brothers were looking for a way to communicate long distance but they have caused an online sensation. The popular YouTube channel Vlogbrothers was founded by brothers John and Hank Green in 2007 as a way for them to communicate visually to each other. But the YouTube channel has grown into much more. For the past three years, the brothers Green have been bringing “awesome” to the online community.
You may not have heard of Nerdfighteria, but it is a real place. It is the home of the “Nerdfighters,” or followers of the popular YouTube channel, Vlogbrothers.The Green brothers and their YouTube followers have their own language.  Dig, if you will, a few of the  Nerdfighter-isms:
“Nerdfighter” – “A person who…is on the inside…instead of bones and organs and stuff, actually made of awesome.” – Hank Green
“Nerdfighteria” – Where Nerdfighters can voice their thoughts and feelings
“DFTBA” – “Don’t forget to be awesome.”
“World Suck” – The bad stuff going on in the world
“…Stuff on heads” – “When you put stuff on your head, it makes you feel better about life.” – John Green
“Giant Squid of Anger” – “…A YouTube troll.” – Hank Green (AKA: someone who posts unhappy and unnecessary comments on videos featured on YouTube.)
“Secret Sibling” – A person who makes a video response to a Vlog Brothers video
“In Your Pants” – “Secret Sibling” Maureen Johnson discovered that if you add the words “in your pants” to the end of a book title, the book becomes much funnier.
“The Yeti” – John’s wife
“The Katherine” – Hank’s wife
