elizabeth edwards will

http://strategerie.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/elizabeth-edwards.jpgElizabeth Edwards made no mention of her estranged husband, former vice presidential candidate John Edwards, in a will she signed six days before her death from breast cancer last month.

Ms. Edwards appointed her 28-year-old daughter, Cate Edwards, as executor of her estate and said that her possessions were to be divided between Cate and her two other children, 12-year-old Emma Claire, and Jack, who is 10.

The will, first published by Inside Edition, states that the children will receive “all of my furniture, furnishings, household goods, jewelry, china, silverware and personal effects and any automobiles owned by me… to be divided among them with such equality and appropriateness as my Executor, in her sole discretion, shall determine.”

It also leaves it up to Cate Edwards to decide whether to deliver the two younger children’s shares “to the person with whom the minor is residing, or to the minor’s legal guardian, or directly to the minor.”

The Edwardses’ first-born child, Wade, was killed in a car accident in 1996 when he was 16 years old.

Mr. Edwards has admitted fathering a child in an extramarital affair while he was pursuing the 2008 Democratic nomination for president. The Edwardses confirmed that they had separated last January, shortly after the publication of a tell-all book by a campaign aide.
