NJ Transit bus service is suspended as a result of the snow.New Jersey Transit and PATCO trains will continue to operate today on modified schedules, with trains running less frequency.But NJ Transit says bus service will remain suspended until further notice, and it's not clear when service might resume.
On the rails, North Jersey Coast Line service is suspended. Service on other lines is operating on an enhanced weekend schedule and is delayed by about 15 minutes. Riders should check the NJ Transit Web site, www.njtransit.com, for updated information.
The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail is suspended between Pavonia-Newport and Marin Blvd. stations, with limited service elsewhere, and the Newark Light Rail is operating on a modified schedule with trains every 20-30 minutes.
The River Line is suspended between Walter Rand Transportation Center and Waterfront Entertainment Center stations due to snow accumulation. Service is operating normally between Walter Rand Transportation Center and Trenton.
According to 511nj.com, PATH service has also been disrupted on the Newark to World Trade Center line with the rails closed in both directions between Grove Street and Newark Stations. NJ Transit will cross honor tickets between Newark and New York City.
Officials expect transit ridership will be light, as the region continues clearing out from the monster storm that has dropped up to 18 inches of snow on the Garden State. The storm has shut down the region's major airports, including Newark Liberty.
New Jersey remains under a state of emergency that was declared Sunday night, and residents are being asked to avoid all travel unless absolutely necessary.
