The Most Wonderful Times of the Year

 Last year was generally happier and less stressful for Americans than the previous two years were, according to the latest data from the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.

The levels for each year are based on more than 350,000 daily surveys, in which respondents are asked if they experienced a lot of a given emotion the day before. People typically report being happier during the weekends and less happy during the workweek.
And while people tend to associate the holidays with moodiness and stress, holidays in general dominated the list of the happiest days of the year:

On the other hand, the most stressful days coincided with negative news events. The most stressful day of 2010, like the most stressful days of 2009 and 2008, was a day of bad economic news:
