‘Rules of Engagement’ actress Bianca Kajlich and her husband, Team USA soccer star Landon Donovan, have been separated for more than a year. Tuesday, Landon took the final step on the road to totally dissolving their marriage, filing for divorce in Los Angeles.

“We remain the closest of friends and will always be important parts of each other’s lives,” the former couple said in a joint statement

Landon and Bianca wed on New Year’s Eve 2006, but separated three years later in October 2009 according to the divorce petition.

A year later, reports surfaced that Landon and Bianca could reconcile after the 2010 World Cup, however days later rumors surrounded the soccer star, claiming he had fathered a love child with an unidentified British woman. The allegations were later determined to be untrue, with the soccer star telling “I will not be a dad anytime soon, with is good news for me.”

Citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their divorce, Landon is seeking spousal support and attorney fees. The pair have no children.
